Violin
Gail Poulsen holds a BA, and received her ARCT in Violin Performance from The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, where she studied with Katharine Rapoport. Gail has acted as assistant to Ms. Rapoport in coaching students at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto. Presently, Gail is a strings coach at Ridley College in St. Catharines and has an active private studio where she teaches both classical music and fiddling.
Gail also has extensive performing experience. In addition to performing with The Niagara Symphony since 1995, she has also been a member of l’Orchestre du Domaine Forget, The National Youth Orchestra of Canada, and The Boris Brott Festival Orchestra. She also studied chamber music with two international competition winners: The Colorado Quartet and The St. Lawrence String Quartet.
Gail’s first fiddling experience began in the 1990’s, when she appeared as guest fiddler with the band, Barley Brae. She now performs regularly with the Celtic trio, Airfid.
