.jpg) A graduate of McGill University, Rice University and the Interlochen Arts Academy, Austin is delighted to join the Niagara Symphony as it’s new Principal Horn. He has also held principal positions with the symphony orchestras of Calgary, Winnipeg, Kingston, New Zealand’s Auckland Philharmonia, and Spain’s Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia. Austin has also performed with many other orchestras including the Canadian Opera Company, and the Symphony Orchestras of Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa’s NAC.
While performing with the New World Symphony, he was invited to attend the Music Academy of the West. This was followed by invitations to the Pacific (Japan) and Tanglewood Music Festivals.
Canada Council has provided Austin grants to study with members of the world renowned Metropolitan Opera Company and Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
This summer, he filled in with the Canadian Brass in Ottawa's Music and Beyond festival. Later this season, he will again fill in on a tour to Venezuela, as part of an El Sistema event.
Austin has also been a finalist at several prominent solo competitions and has recorded with the Canadian Brass. |
