1:45pm. Pre-concert talk

For the final Masters program, guest conductor Bradley Thachuk has assembled a collection of works that promise much. A promise kept is most certainly the first NSA appearance by pianist David Louie. Well-known in Niagara as a consummate chamber musician, Louie will bring his formidable technical prowess and steadfast musicality into the service of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 - the majestic "Emperor" Concerto. While Sibelius’ first symphony has a rightful place in the standard repertoire, there is little doubt that his Second Symphony in D Major fulfilled the promise of what could come from Finland’s most accomplished composer. The Romantic voice and spirit at full cry has thrilled audiences for a century-and-a-half that shows no sign of diminishing.

*Carrabré - Chase the Sun
Beethoven - Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73 (Emperor)
Sibelius, Jean - Symphony No. 2 in D Major
